The WFD Vice President, Kasper Bergmann, attended the National Disability Council in Guatemala, which held an event commemorating the 20 years of the UN CRPD.

During his opening remarks, he congratulated Guatemala for being one of the 84 countries which has recognised its national sign language and highlighted the barriers to education preventing deaf children in Guatemala from getting an inclusive education in sign language.

During the panel discussion, the WFD Vice President encouraged the government agencies and deaf associations to work together to address the gaps preventing deaf Guatemalans from enjoying their full human rights.
