140th WFD Board meeting

April 24, 2026 | Board

The WFD Board is in New Delhi, India, for its 140th Board Meeting, marking the first meeting of 2026. Over the course of three days, Board members come together to review the ongoing work of the WFD Secretariat, assess progress, and ensure that the organisation continues to effectively advance the human rights of deaf people worldwide.

Key discussions include preparations for the WFD’s 75th anniversary, a major milestone that will celebrate decades of global advocacy and achievements for the deaf communities. The Board is also looking ahead to the World Congress in 2027, shaping its vision, priorities, and impact.

Membership development remains a central focus, alongside strategic engagement with the Youth Section, recognising the vital role of young deaf leaders in driving future change. These conversations are essential to strengthening collaboration across regions and ensuring inclusive, representative decision-making.

We warmly thank our Ordinary Member, the All India Federation of the Deaf (AIFD), for their generous welcome and outstanding hospitality, which have created a supportive and inspiring environment for these important discussions.
