The WFD President attended the Second World Summit for Social Development in Doha, an important opportunity to ensure that the perspectives and experiences of deaf people were represented at a global level. The summit also provided a valuable space to strengthen networks, build new partnerships, and promote the inclusion of deaf communities in social development efforts.

During the summit, the WFD President delivered a strong reminder of what genuine inclusion requires:

“Inclusion is not achieved through accessibility alone. It requires recognition, participation, and partnership.

He shared this message during a side event co-hosted by the Zayed Higher Organisation (ZHO) and its partners. At this event, he emphasised that while accessibility is essential, it is only the starting point. True inclusion is achieved when Deaf people are fully recognised, are able to participate meaningfully in all aspects of society, and when institutions engage in genuine partnerships with Deaf communities.

The side event further highlighted the importance of international cooperation and Deaf-led leadership. Through strong networks and shared commitment, meaningful progress toward full inclusion can be achieved.
