3 countries, India, Colombia and Samoa, shared their experience and we presented our sign language rights Toolkit.

Workshop with Sri Lanka
The WFD held a workshop for Sri Lanka. This was the first of two workshops to come out of the partnership between the WFD and the Nippon Foundation for their “Securing Access to Sign Language Rights” project, which aims to support our Ordinary Members in the achievement of the legal recognition of Sign Language.

66 countries have recognized their national sign language
The WFD is pleased to present this infographic with information on United Nations Member States that have achieved national-level legal recognition of their national sign languages. This compilation comprises legislation from the countries listed that recognise deaf people’s right to use their national sign languages in different areas of life.

Short and Sweet Headlines are Best!
Together with several partners, the COVID-19 toolkit was developed in response to the need to ensure the inclusion of deaf people in the COVID-19 response. The purpose of this toolkit is to:
- Facilitate access to information about COVID-19 for the benefit of the deaf
- Explain strategies to assist the deaf in advocating for an inclusive COVID-19 response plan
- Influence relevant authorities to mainstream deaf people’s issues as part of the COVID-19 Response.
