WFD President Colin Allen receives Member of the Order of Australia Award (AM)

The World Federation of the Deaf (WFD) is very pleased to announce that its President Colin Allen has been made a Member of the Order of Australia in the 2018 Queen’s Birthday Honours List for his long service to the Australian and international Deaf Community.

The Order of Australia is the Australian honours system and is headed by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Queen of Australia and the Governor-General of Australia is the Chancellor of the Order. It is an ‘Australian society of honour for according recognition to Australian citizens and other persons for achievement or meritorious service’. This award means that Colin will now be known as Mr Colin Allen AM.

This award is in recognition of Colin’s extensive service to his local Deaf Community in Sydney, his national Deaf Community in Australia and the international Deaf Community through his development work in many countries including Albania, Cambodia, Kosovo and Serbia and as a Board member and President of the World Federation of the Deaf, as well as a Board member and Chair of the International Disability Alliance.
