The World Federation of the Deaf (WFD) is seeking a Sign Language Rights Officer for a time-limited period until 31 August 2021.
The Sign Language Rights Officer is responsible for leading and implementing the “Securing Access to Sign Language Rights” project, a grant funded by the Nippon Foundation.
The project will design a toolkit to promote the legal recognition of national sign languages around the world as best practice towards access to information during emergency situations.
Only 25% of UN Member States have legal recognition of their national sign languages with an even lower percentage in low- and middle-income countries. This toolkit aims to provide comprehensive guidance to national associations of deaf people and national governments to achieve the legal recognition of their national sign languages.
Deadline for Applications: 26 August 2020
