Day 1 of the 5th WFD Conference
Theme: Artificial Intelligence and Sign Languages
The 5th WFD Conference officially opened today. The first day addressed the theme: “Artificial Intelligence and Sign Languages”, highlighting both the challenges and opportunities that AI presents for deaf communities. Dr. Maartje De Meulder (Belgium), senior researcher, delivered an impactful presentation on the challenges faced by deaf communities and on the ethical considerations in the development and use of AI-driven sign language technologies.
