The 5th WFD Conference will be held in Nairobi, Kenya from 12 to 14 August 2025. The theme of the Conference is ‘Advancing Sign Language Rights‘. The programme will focus on three main sub-themes:
- A Changing World – Ensuring sign language rights in the context of climate change and disaster risk reduction.
- Artificial Intelligence and Sign Languages – Addressing the challenges and opportunities presented by AI.
- Robust Deaf Organisations – Building sustainable and resilient organisations to support the Deaf community.
This comprehensive approach highlights the intersection of global challenges, technological advancements, and organisational resilience in promoting sign language rights.
Additionally, a Pre-Conference on Deaf Women and Gender Equality will be held, highlighting the critical importance of gender equality and empowering deaf women as part of the broader efforts to advance sign language rights globally.
This event is reserved for our Ordinary and Associate Members. WFD Regional Secretariat Representatives and members of our Expert Groups are welcome to attend.
