World Congress

The World Congress of the World Federation of the Deaf is held every four years hosted by an Ordinary Member of the WFD and always takes place right after the WFD General Assembly.

The World Congress has several goals:

  • Respecting and highlighting WFD’s values and work
  • Highlighting the various activities involving deaf people and sign languages around the world
  • Providing knowledge and materials to participants for their advocacy and activities
  • Giving participants the opportunity to connect with each other and develop their networks
  • Strengthening the host country’s deaf communities
  • Supporting the participation of all diverse deaf people

The World Congress of the World Federation of the Deaf is a fantastic opportunity for the global deaf communities to come together, share experiences, and learn from each other.

Large conference with a speaker using sign language on stage. Two screens display the speaker, and audience members are seated in rows.

The XX World Congress of the World Federation of the Deaf will be held from 19 to 23 September 2027 in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.
