5th WFD Conference

The 5th World Federation of the Deaf Conference will be held from 12 to 14 August 2025 in Nairobi in Kenya.

Theme: Advancing Sign Language Rights

This event focuses on advancing sign language rights, aiming to promote and protect the use of sign language globally. Experts, advocates, and members of the deaf communities will gather to share insights, strategies, and experiences.

Pre-Conference

The WFD Pre-Conference is ‘Strengthening Gender Diversity in Deaf Organisations’. It seeks to address challenges and identify opportunities in accelerating gender equality and empowerment of deaf women.

Objectives:

  • Raise awareness on gender issues.
  • Gather preliminary data and information on the experiences of Deaf women.
  • Build knowledge and share tools needed to work within gender issues and increase the representation of deaf women in national associations of the deaf.

    The Conferences are held in odd years between the World Congresses. The conference aims to provide a platform for our members to enhance their knowledge and provide resources to strengthen their advocacy work.
