WFD Expert Work Group on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR)

The World Federation of the Deaf seeks expressions of interest from individuals desiring to serve as WFD Experts together in the field of Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), Humanitarian Action and Emergency Preparedness. The WFD is seeking a coordinator and a number of expert members for the new Experts Group on Disaster Risk Reduction. This Expert Group aims to represent deaf populations in the DRR and humanitarian action and policies fields.

Business Development and Financial Officier

The WFD Secretariat is seeking a professional Business Development and Finance Officer with experience in design, implementation and management of budget systems. The candidate will serve as a key member of the team and should be a self-starter and possess excellent organizational skills.

Position starts: 1 September, 2021. Position end: 30 March, 2022.  Possibility of continuation based on successful performance.

Homage to Mr Vasil Panev
WFD Honorary Member

The World Federation of the Deaf notes the passing of WFD Honorary Member Mr Vasil Panev, who gave a lifetime of service to deaf organizations on the national and international levels. 

Born in Bulgaria and long-time President of the Bulgarian Union of the Deaf, Mr Panev took an active part in various legislative initiatives in the Parliament and the Bulgarian government concerning people with disabilities in his country. He was a member of the Board of the World Federation of the Deaf for 24 years (from 1971 to 1995). In 1975, he was elected WFD Vice President, a position he held until 1991. Mr Panev was named a WFD Honorary Member in 1995 in recognition of his long service to the WFD. 

The World Federation of the Deaf salutes Vasil Panev's work on behalf of deaf peoples' rights in Bulgaria and around the world.
