Summary Report from IDA Board Meeting (Kenya)

WFD President, Colin Allen gives a video summary of the International Disability Alliance (IDA) board meeting which was held for three days from 3 March to 5 March, in Nairobi, Kenya.

The IDA Board reviewed the work that had been done over the previous year, 2013, as well as the financial reports, which included the 2013 and 2014 budgets and received reports on their internal project work and IDA’s external representation work related to the United Nations, United Nations Convention on the Rights of Person with Disabilities and other events in both New York and Geneva.

It was a high priority for IDA to commit to work in particular on the Post-2015 Development Agenda.  The IDA Board discussed in depth the goals, targets and indicators that promote inclusion and accessibility for persons with disabilities to be included for the Open Working Group of the General Assembly on Sustainable Development Goals.

It also discussed the preparation to recruit for the post of a new Executive Director, which will be advertised. Mr Vladimir Cuk is currently Acting Executive Director.

The IDA held their board elections for a two year term, effective from 1 July 2014 to 30 June 2016:
