We are pleased to introduce our newly formed WFD Newsletter Editorial Working Group, which comprises four members with experience in diverse fields. The working group is primarily responsible for producing accessible content for the WFD’s main communication channels, including the WFD Newsletter, an e-newsletter on deaf issues that align with the mission and vision of the WFD. The group is a sub-committee of the WFD Information and Communication Committee, which is part of the WFD Board.
Nafisah Rantasalmi, Chief Editor (Staff Member)
Ms Nafisah Rantasalmi is a Development Officer at the WFD. She oversees the entire media and communication work of the WFD. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Social Sciences, majoring in Psychology from the Singapore Management University. She has previously worked at the Singapore Association for the Deaf as a Senior Sign Language Interpreter.
Anne Sjöroos, Journalist (Volunteer)
Ms Anne Sjöroos is a Production Director with Ursa Minor, which is an arts and culture collective. She has studied culture production (BA) in the Metropolia University of Applied Sciences of Helsinki, and has also worked as theatre producer and editor of the magazine of the Finnish Association of the Deaf.
Phillipa Sandholm, Coordinator (Staff Member)
Ms Phillipa Sandholm is an Administrative Secretary at the WFD. She has been involved in the production of the WFD Newsletter since 2001. She studied at a secretarial college and the Marketing Institute in Helsinki, Finland.
Alvan Yap, Copyeditor (Volunteer)
Mr Alvan Yap is a freelance writer and editor. His previous work stints included being a teacher of the deaf in Singapore and Timor Leste, editorial work in the publishing industry; he was also in management with the Singapore Association for the Deaf. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Political Science from the National University of Singapore.
